Here is a card I created using a digital stamp from Delicious Doodles. First I colored here with Copic markers, then added some layers, lace and pearls. Paper is from “The Paper Studio”
The Corrosive Challenge – Show Us Your Metal
Corrosive Challenge, Delicious Doodles, Steampunk 1 Comment »It’s time for another Corrosive Challenge! This fortnight we are sponsored by Delicious Doodles, and the prize will be 4 free digi’s, so you will definitely want to play along! For my card, I chose Steampunk Mermaid. I colored my mermaid with Copics. For my metal bits I added some copper looking brads across the tops. Then I added two gears at the top, and a ships wheel to make it look like three gears, but also add an ocean feel. The bottom are jumpers for jewelery that I just lined up and glued down. I had a lot of fun putting her together. Thanks for stopping by for a look! Hope to see you for the challenge!
Well, here is my entry for this fortnights Corrosive Challenge, Maiden, Mother and Crone – sponsored by Delicious Doodles. I had a hard time with the card because I didn’t have a clear picture in my head of what I wanted and the result wasn’t exactly what I was going for, so I’m not completely happy with it, but I guess it turned out ok.
Anyway, I used my cuttlebug and wood grain embossing folder to create the background. I went over the raised parts with a white wax crayon, then used Tim Holtz distress stain (peeled paint and vintage photo) on it, and sponged off the excess, giving it the greenish brown textured background. I was trying to make the bottom look sort of look like the ground, but I’m not sure that came across, for that I used some tan netting that I stained with the distress stain and glued down, then added my brads. I cut out some butterfly clipart and added that to fill up some spaces. I also cut out the leaves and popped them up for a bit of a 3-D feel.
Created this card for yesterday’s Splitcoast Stampers Sketch Challenge (SC297). This fantastic Green Man digi image is from Delicious Doodles. I had a bit of a hard time getting the leaves stuffed in the corner just the way I wanted them. I glued, I taped, I cussed…..finally found some glue dots and just glue….dotted(?) like crazy. It’s a real mess on the other side of that panel : p
I hand stitched all the way around the bottom panel, cause I’m crazy like that. (Truth is, I could never manage to get the hang of the sewing machine, darn it!) The only green thread I had was really thin, so it kept getting tangled. More cussing for me. I cut out my Green Man and popped him up with some foam tape to add some dimension. Didn’t really care for that last thin top panel. I tried a few different things, but wasn’t happy with any of them, and by that time, my brain was starting to go numb, so I stuck with the original text piece.
