Earth Mother

Corrosive Challenge, Delicious Doodles, God/Goddess Add comments

Well, here is my entry for this fortnights Corrosive Challenge, Maiden, Mother and Crone – sponsored by Delicious Doodles.  I had a hard time with the card because I didn’t have a clear picture in my head of what I wanted and the result wasn’t exactly what I was going for, so I’m not completely happy with it, but I guess it turned out ok.

Anyway, I used my cuttlebug and wood grain embossing folder to create the background.  I went over the raised parts with a white wax crayon, then used Tim Holtz distress stain (peeled paint and vintage photo) on it, and sponged off the excess, giving it the greenish brown textured background.  I was trying to make the bottom look sort of look like the ground, but I’m not sure that came across, for that I used some tan netting that I stained with the distress stain and glued down, then added my brads.  I cut out some butterfly clipart and added that to fill up some spaces.  I also cut out the leaves and popped them up for a bit of a 3-D feel.

Well, even though you say you’re not happy with it, I think it’s beautiful! I love the earthy feel which is so prefect for the image! The natural elements are wonderful! I really love how you did the wood grain background!
